Staff behind the most recent developments at leading UK meat supplier, DB Foods, are celebrating the recognition for their efforts with the companies first ever accolade at the Meat Management Awards 2025.

With DB Foods creations shortlisted at the UK’s biggest meat industry awards for the categories of Best Poultry and Best Lamb Products, it was the company’s ‘Chicken Topped with Chorizo & Cheese Melt’, created for Morrisons Market Street, that was named the winner at the awards dinner held at Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Thursday 18 September.

“We started working with DB Foods recently, and have hugely enjoyed the process of collaborating with the team to create new, exciting and innovative protein-rich dishes for our customers,” says Alex Easter, Senior Trader at Morrisons. “This award-winning product is one of eight we have launched in a new ‘Meals Made Easy’ range available from our Market Street, and with more in development, we are delighted this partnership has been recognised for its quality, standards and, of course, taste.”

For DB Foods, the award not only represents strengthening relationships with the UK’s top retailers, but is validation of years of planning and investment.

“Our product launch is fully in tune with the Morrisons own ‘Morrisons Magic’ initiative, a bold reinvention of the Market Street area that emphasises fresh, premium convenience. The foil‑tray format complements this new retail design by offering visually appealing, easy-prep meals that meet customer’s expectations” says Graeme Clapp, Commercial Director of DB Foods.  “Whilst we first started discussing our plans to expand our presence in the retail sector three years ago, the past 12 months have been a whirlwind.  In the past year we opened our new, fully-equipped processing factory in Poole, had our first products in national supermarkets (and television!), and accepted the offer to join the Paramount Retail Group to help us fulfil the potential of our new facilities.”

“To have had our first commercial products recognised and voted for by the readers and experts of Meat Management magazine is such a boost.  It is a vote of confidence for all our staff, from the development kitchen to the factory floor, and our customers who have believed in and supported our vision. We know have an award-winning foundation on which to build.”
